Föhn or Snow Eater

Not sure if the German alphabet appears on other language screens, so the word can also be written as "Foehn". It's a warm south wind that blows over the alps and causes many of the Bavarians and in particular Munich inhabitants, to have headaches and similar ailments, all good reasons to be bad tempered.. Apart from making things warm and melting snow, it also has the effect of making the mountains look very close, as shown in a Blip from MildlyOffensive or this photo. My Blip shows our village in the foreground and the alps behind - sadly I don't know the summit names - somewhere behing Kempten.

Dog walk in Erkheim on open fields - sun & blue skies just marked with jet stream. No wind and I was totally overdressed. Got very warm. Then to the local farm merchants for some horse bedding supplies, sunflower seeds for the wild birds and a bit of food for me.
