Elgol
After what seemed like a really long day at work we left for the Isle of Skye at about 3 o'clock. Rather than our usual trip up the A9 we went via Glencoe. We thought we were going to regret it at first when we were stuck at about 30 miles an hour between Doune and Lochearnhead. Fortunately after thet the pace picked up a wee bit and the only delays we faced were stopping for food and being stopped by the Police as we went through Glencoe.
The Police were stopping everyone vaguely young looking in the car park of the old Glencoe Hotel. There were at least 15 officers there and a mobile police station. They also had a sniffer dog and were making some of the people thay had stopped empty out the entire contents of their vehicles into the car park. I can only assume that they were stopping traffic that looked like it was heading up to the Rock Ness festival to search them for drugs. Fortunately we weren't delayed for too long as they had a quick look at us once we'd pulled in and waved us on our way again.
After all that we got to Elgol at about 9.30 and the other four were aall there already. We got down to some serious drinking after that and it was such a lovely night that despite the midgies we just sat outside watching th esun almost setting. This picture was taken just a wee bit before midnight and it never really got much darker than that on the horizion. By the time we headed to bed a wee while after 3 am I thought it was about 5 or 6 in the morning as it was so bright.
