Next Month's Firewood

The selection of January's firewood is always a ritual for us. First carefully selected from the Forestry Commission site it is then decorated and kept indoors for a least for weeks before it is ready for burning.

There is a lot of processing in this image. Taken on a tripod and using a tiny aperture to get the starlight and DOF. Handheld flash used to light the base a bit, brighten the star and put a bit more sparkle into the tree. Then selective colour boosting, blurring and desaturation. Then rotating, cropping, slight vignette, curves tweek and sharpening.
