Stocking Creek Shelter
Tiny Tussock reporting (when I can see)
No prizes for guessing what the weather was doing today, but the gallant team of The Boss, Bossess and a small stuffed dog set off when it was actually not raining, to walk to the glacial lake in the Hooker Valley at Aoraki Mt Cook National Park .
Within 30 minutes we were togging up and everything went dark yellow as I was covered with the camera paks weather cover. Pretty soon after that it was bucketing down but since we were all wet by then the vote was to continue and so we did. This walk is really worth it even when raining and The Boss has popped a selection of shots on his portfolio from BOTH his and The Bossess iPhones. It was far too wet to bring out the serious gear and the phones performed really well and could be brought out and retuned to the waterproof pocket quickly so were grrreat in the circumstances.
This is a 3 hours walk but we took about 41/2 which included lunch on a rock when it almost stopped raining for a bit.
WOOF and many thanks to you all for comments made. Everything is being read but replies are a bit tricky when on a break like this. The Motel does however have good wifi (free) which we are appreciating.
On return the rain stopped and we hit The Hermitage for emergency Coffee and Hot Chocolate. Then they (not me) hit the hot shower and the local cafe / restaurant for Hoki Bites and Wedges.
Oh YES the spiky plants are Spaniards and will cut your legs to bits if you are unlucky enough to brush against them so keeping to the tracks is good except photographers don’t you kno.
A Grrreat day
