Why is it that in old writing they use v instead of u and f instead of s?

Leeds Town Hall tonight for a classical Christmas concert. Vivaldi's Gloria and Bach's Christmas Oratorio (parts 1, 2 & 3). I feel very cultured!!! ;)

I really enjoyed the choir tonight (and was impressed that the whole middle section was filled with men! - 42 in all!). I found myself wishing I was sitting further forward to appreciate the 'surround' sound more. Mind you to really experience the full force of the choir I'd probably need to be sitting slap bang in the middle of the orchestra. I don't think they'd be to happy about that!!

So that's me done the first Christmasy things this year (school Nativity doesn't count)!! Got a tree this afternoon and concert tonight. Maybe I'll start feeling more Christmasy soon!! Hmm! I did feel a bit Christmasy when I decorated my classroom. I just haven't stopped! Looking forward to a break!
