Reflections
Saturday
This morning we drove over to the Verrerie d'Art (a glass-making workshop and boutique) at Soisy sur Ecole, on the other side of Fontainebleau. The place was already in existence when we lived here last, but we never did get round to going, so I have been wanting to go ever since we returned to France. It was a pleasant drive through the countryside - the morning had been a little misty and overcast first thing - the first morning all week that we hadn't experienced a hard frost - but by the time we left the house the clouds were beginning to clear and it was developing into a pleasant morning. The glass studio is located in a beautiful garden setting adjacent to the gently flowing stream that is the Ecole. There are several glass sculptures located through the garden, one of which can be seen toward the left on my blip. When we were finished at Soisy we drove over to the neighbouring village of Courances, as we had seen some signs announcing a Christmas Market there this weekend. We wandered around the stalls, buying one or two things and having a bite to eat. After popping back home for a little while, we then drove down to the historic town of Provins, where they had a medieval market going on . It was an interesting event, with stalls selling a variety of things, musicains and many people dressed in medieval style costumes.
