Pelican at Sunrise

We went to Venice Beach which is on the west coast of Florida just after sunrise to enjoy the last bit of warmth of our trip. There were maybe 10 people on a mile stretch of beach which was perfect. The sun was out, a nice breeze was blowing, and temperatures were near 75 degrees.

There weren't very many birds out other than a couple of sea gulls and Pelicans. This Pelican was flying north towards the Venice Beach pier where his mates were starting to wake up and get their breakfast. Please click here to see a closer view of this magnificent creature.

I am back home now enjoying a soaking rain and temperatures close to freezing.
