Black silt

This is the highest grade and some of the most fertile agricultural land in the country. You could call it black gold except that term has been taken. Some people I understand are drawn to eating soil and earth eating is frequently practised in some cultures. Clay rich soils can have nutritional benefits if you avoid the microbes! Pregnant women sometimes have a craving for soil. Looking at how rich this field looks, I can begin to understand. However, I will stick to my lemon sole goujons, chips and mushy peas for dinner; comfort food after a tiring week and then Borgen on the tele later on.
