Band Rotunda
The Kaiapoi Band Rotunda was built for performances by the Kaiapoi brass band, designed by Thomas Keir and constructed by Paynter & Hamilton Ltd . It was opened in 1908 in Darnley Square by J H Blackwell, Mayor of Kaiapoi. Moved to Raven Quay in 1913 and then relocated to this third site, Trousselot Park, in 2003. It is now in a suitable location by the Kaiapoi Riverbank, large enough to hold major events, surrounded with large trees and Scott Rose Gardens.
The Kaiapoi Band Rotunda has a Historic Places Trust Category II registration.
Our morning started with promise of a good day but by mid afternoon cloud had descended over our small town and all is looking a bit dull, just as well I got out early for this shot. Otherwise fairly quiet on the home front, a bit of gift wrapping, some photo editing, catching up with backblips and simply mulling around - gardening tomorrow I hope.
I had better go and organise tea, Mexican beef tonight with a glass of red.
Happy weekend blippers :)
