Rakaia River

The confluence of the Rakaia River (main flow - discoloured after a flood) and the tail race after coming from Lake Coleridge via the power station (beautiful clear water).

As a kayaker (multisport boats - 6 metres in length - not the small whitewater craft) I can't help analysing the confluence and trying to pick a line through it if you were paddling down the tail race. My conclusion - avoid!
