Zoo Outing:
Today I had a very special birthday treat - the Daughter and Son in Law took me to the South Lakes Wild Animal Park, probably because of my interest in tigers.
It absolutely poured down but it didn't affect our mood, it was obvious we were going to enjoy ourselves. The weather probably meant that some of the animals preferred to remain indoors but, cameras at the ready we set off hopefully.
Keeping 2.30 carefully in mind (tiger feeding time) we toured the small mammals' building and I fell in love with this little Fennec Fox (I named him Freddie!) He slept through all the comings and goings of his siblings, specially I think to allow me to take this photo.
There were loads of birds etc.and I especially enjoyed the tiny monkeys. We saw vultures (no comment), llamas, kangaroos, bats and even pigs.
After lunch we saw giant tortoises, but missed the giant otter, The coral flamingos were gorgeous (well they would be as they are my favourite colour).
We witnessed the attendant fastening the Jaguars' snacks (looked like a white goose) at the top of four telegraph poles and as the cats released they shot shot up those poles in a flash, grabbed the bird, and shot back indoors.
Snack time over.
I got back in the car absolutely frozen and arrived back home to my Friday sherry. Birthday 2013 finis!
