Banksia

Christmas shopping…at last ……….so a really busy day trying to accomplish as much as possible in one day (I hate shopping). I am now about to tackle the Christmas card list although I may have left it a little late for the UK .
I used to be a very organised and careful planner but have mellowed somewhat (or maybe I am just slack disorganised these days.

Here is a Banksia which happened to be near one of the shops today.
I really like these striking looking plants, there are over 170 species so I have no idea which this is. They are named in honour of the English botanist Sir Joseph Banks, who collected the first Banksia specimens in 1770, during James Cook's first expedition.
