Plates and Swastikas

D resolved to buy some dinner plates a while ago having predicted the likelihood of a need for them. We decided to buy Boleslawiec since we both like them. Since they had a lot of designs we decided to buy all different rather than matching. They were delivered this morning.

A while ago I was somewhat shocked and surprised to see that there is a swastika on the base of one of our serving plates. In itself quite astonishing to discover that Nazis ate off plates. This week someone in Bialystok noticed swastikas subtly incorporated in the stucco on the ceilings a some public building. It is actually potentially illegal in Poland but not altogether so much of a shock, since the Nazis built it. Quite where our plate came from I really don't know. I'm not sure whether to break or sell it, but now we have some nice plates to take our minds of our serving plate crisis.
