Whitby, Sunday morning

This morning, we enjoyed the breakfast delivered by hamper to our door. And whilst one could not complain about the perfectly boiled eggs, cheese, fresh fruit, orange juice, flask of milk, cheese scones, fruit bread or yoghurt, there was only enough fresh coffee for one cup each. Thus we reluctantly abandoned the hotel to walk down into Whitby.

From the hillside I saw this view and it reminded me of the seascapes painted by LS Lowry, which we saw at the Lowry Centre a few weeks ago.

I've edited the photo to match the mood of the Lowry paintings but in fact it was a nice clear day for strolling around, marvelling at the number of fish and chip shops - all open on a Sunday morning - and looking for an appealing coffee shop, which we found in the shape of Sherlock's, where we enjoyed a hot drink or two and browsed through their old books.
