Bunking off
There’s ambling to the far end
of the playing field
and wriggling under
the years-wrenched wire.
There’s the brazen
30-miles-an-hour pillion-ride
past the prefects
and through the gates
hugging a pliant sixth-former.
There’s throwing your bag
over the fence,
throwing yourself after it
and running.
And a thousand other ways
to break for freedom.
