Grimsayer

Certainly not a damp Squib....

Today one of our neighbours kindly offered to take me out for a day's sailing at Salcombe - us actually but Tricia had other ideas involving shops in Exeter. Some trepidation on account of my incompetence but a good day was certainly had, hopefully by all.
Salcombe is itself a pretty spot and the entrance to the Ria is much more impressive that I thought it would be. The weather was kind although the wind a little fluky. Good enough however to explore several of the arms of the creeks around the town.
I had forgotten the soothing nature of moving under sail - once one has got over the shock of the bizarre nautical language required of you and the plethora of various ropes, painters and sheets to pull or release at various times.
Waders everywhere and a Devon Pasty and Brownie for lunch made for a relaxing day. Looking forward (more determinedly that hitherto) to getting our boat in the waters off Grimsay. I fear the weather and water might not be so kind.....
