What you're looking at here are two coin operated rice huskers for people in the area that grow their own rice but don't have the machine to clean and polish it. You harvest the rice, take it off the stalks, and then stick it in these machines and you get it all bagged up and ready to be cooked. Then you pop round the back to the brown door and pick up the powdered chaff that can be used to fertilize your fields, make hand cream, wash your dishes, or best of all, make nukazuke (pickles).
