A Good Day to Fly the Flags

The flag of the state
does not top the flag of the
nation. Rules are set.

Observing the protocol, these flags are flying free outside the public library in the Foothills of Yuma. The Nation's flag must not be topped by any other flag when sharing the same flag pole.

I like the Arizona flag a lot. I find it a dramatic and colourful flag. It is said to have had its origins with that of the Arizona Rifle Team in 1907. The gold and red bars are 13 in number to represent the original colonies of the United States. The red matches that of the American flag. The red and the gold are the same as those in the flag of the Spanish Conquistadors. The copper star identifies Arizona as the largest copper producer in the union.
The blue in the lower half is the Liberty blue of the United States' flag. The Arizona flag was adopted by the Arizona State Legislature on February 27, 1917.
