Shadows of the Sky

Today was a restless day, the stress of exams is usually something I thrive on but this time round I was not as prepared as I like to be, any maybe that led to the nerves.

Not today the early morning charge to the city, a more "relaxed" commute going to a nearby station and catching the train... Bad move it was horrific, frightfully hot, coughs sneezes splutters, having to stand just irked me and made me realise why I abandoned the train for the car a long time ago!!! As I walked across the city a call from my beautiful friend, soft words, unerring belief and good wishes calmed me; my promise to stay calm and let them know how the torture went.

I met my friend and fellow post grad student Kirsty and we went through our pre exam ritual, the same wee cafe, the same roll and scrambled egg and mug of piping hot tea before heading off to the Royal Collage Building for the judgement. Not quite the judgement of Solomon but it felt akin to that to me.

Two hours later it was over, I wandered across the city heading for the station but a small detour to one of my favourite little music shops a few second hand cds later I headed for the train and reflected on my day. Home, tea and a walk and of course my solace in the river was required. I walked downriver today just for a change but away from people along the foreshore.

A single frame was all I shot today, a contrast from yesterday, a return to my beloved monochrome, a thank you for my friend today for those beautiful, sweet calming words this morning much need and perfectly timed....
