Better than 50:50

I was at the finals of the Scottish EDGE awards last night, a great scheme that provides cash awards for innovative new Scottish companies. The final pitches were very impressive, and the candidates were very assured in their responses to the panel of experts. It was definitely NOT like Dragons Den, as the people were far too good!

Of the 21 winners, 13 were companies led by women, which was as it should be, but rarely is! In fact, the last time I was at this venue (RBS HQ at Gogarburn) for an economic seminar, I counted 9 women in the audience of around 150 business people. These companies are the future of business in Scotland, and its looking good.
