Onward
Our tents stowed away in a safe place, we hiked across the fells and past the gorgeous Angle Tarn.
The drizzle was persistent, and while it never actually rained, it was just as wet, and the hundred of photo opportunities eluded me as my lens was coated in watery spots within seconds of taking off the cover.
We landed at Patterdale with the intention of gorging on the legendary Bacon Baguettes that they do at the Post Office (worth a detour....) only to find that Simon had left his cash safely stowed away with the tents! I hadn't got any cash with me - I was going to pay Simon back later...
Not only that, but the car that was parked at Hartsop contained our day 2 supplies - evening curry and a couple of beers... and the car keys were also safely stashed away miles away with the tents!
So we had to walk past the car, hungry and wet, and hike back up the mountain!
It had been a great trip but the heavens opened and we had a choice then of either going back to the car, a couple of miles away, to get the supplies, and then hike right back up the mountain to cook in the rain; or just pack up and go home.
We decided to pack up - we were very hungry with no energy and were losing daylight and it was definitely the right thing to do :o)
But it really was a great trip and I always see this little disasters (which in the big scheme are things are hardly 'disasters'), as talking points for later.
~Do you remember that time when....
So home late on Saturday evening (stopping off on the way for a Patterdale Bacon Baguette), followed by 14 hours sleep!
