Mara at Quarai

I drug the poor baby off to another ruin today. This one is Quarai another of the Salinas Pueblos. Mara liked it quite well. There was a wetland, which is the reason the ruin is located, there that had frogs, other creatures and lots of interesting flowers. The ruins of the church were quite maze like and she loves to hide. Here she is walking thru the sanctuary of the old church. She was fascinated with the flagstones that had fossil ripples and rain drops. It is about 75 miles from Albuquerque but closer to a 2 hour drive.

Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument

Today, I am grateful for the day I was given, time with the baby, an interesting ruin and finding out that a book was just published on the topic of Pueblo-Spanish relations in the 17th century and that I can get it thru inter-library loan.
