I think from this day forward I will choice all our holidays around flying from City airport. We have flown from there a couple of times and it is such a great place to start a trip. There are no queues, security took less than five minutes and the airport was lovely and quiet. The flight to Zurich was only an hour and forty minutes and I was able to take some nice photos as we flew out over London.
As we arrived into Zurich the fields were dusted with snow and I was hoping I had enough jumpers and pairs of warm socks. The airport was quiet and we passed through quickly and were soon in the city and checking into our hotel.
It was cold and wet but we headed out into town. It was my first view of the Christmas lights on Bahnhofstrasse and they are stunning. We walked along the main street stopping to shop and take everything in. We soon reached the main railway station where the Christmas market was being held and popped it to have a look around. It was really busy and my eyes were drawn to the huge Christmas Street which was covered in Swarovski crystals. It was completely O.T.T but somehow looked right in the market surrounded by the pretty wooden stalls.
After a quick break at the hotel we were out for some traditional Swiss food at Zeughauskeller. It is a traditional beer house with lots of good food, good beer and a great atmosphere. It has been raining for most of the day but this made all the Christmas lights reflect on the cobbled streets and it really does look magical walking through the city.
