Intensely Istanbul

If I was only allowed two words to describe Istanbul, one would be grey and the other would be blue. This weekend we have had a day of each colour.

Tried to take Connie-dog for a short walk in the morning sunshine, but I guess it was too cold for her because she turned around and headed back home at the first opportunity, going straight back to her comfy warm bed.

Walking up the hill to Akmerkez this afternoon there was a football match on the school's upper field that was just about to start. This field was renamed last summer in honour of the recently retired and much loved athletics and basketball teacher who worked here for 35 years. The green of the pitch is astro-turf - incredibly expensive apparently, paid for by generous alumni.

The saturated colours in this winter bright light, the distant view of the Asian side of the city on the other side of the Bosphorus and the intense blue of the sky ticked all my boxes when trying to choose my photo for the day because this view truly is, Intensely Istanbul.

btw - Mrs (Mr?) Tiggywinkle has visited almost every night for supper recently - stocking up maybe ? for it must surely be nearly time for the big winter sleep.
