Goodbye, Thomas Alva Edison...

... and welcome, Nick Holonyack!

After 10 year's, the good old carbon wire in these lamps which adorn the front door broke. 19th century technology, invented in by Thomas Edison (the invention is a true saga!) so coveted by Mrs. Dutchoak for its warm yellow glow and so despised by Dutchoak himself because of their energy consumption has been replaced by state-of-the-art Led lamps (of which Nick Holonyack is the father because of the groundbreaking work he did on the technology.

So, the house is a little less warmly lit on the outside, but now we're able to chase away darkness without having to build another nuclear power plant...
