Sad
After the surge in the North Sea on the 5 December Donna Nook was a devastated area. I went out early this morning to see the damage and was shocked. Seals are washed up in the dunes and look fairly sad. The visitor area is largely closed because so many bull seals are lurking waiting for their chance to mate and there are some cows still feeding their pups and they would be protective and aggressive. There is an adult seal behind this pup - you can just see its shape. Lots of the sea buckthorn was washed away and the branches broken but this one survived.
There is a path through the dunes and when the sea came in it was over the fence and about chest high.
Although I took a couple of much nicer photos, this event was so unusual I wanted to record it.
The good news is the wardens don't think we have lost too many pups.
