Toffee

When my daughter SOLOH was young , she wrote to Santa every year asking for a horse. On Christmas morning she would run to see if we had converted the garage into a stable, and would come back in disappointed. We couldn't convince her that we were not keeping a horse in our garage as a girl who lived nearby often had her horse in the garage.
She persevered asking as kids do and when she was 12 years old my parents bought her an Icelandic pony called Toffee. They kept the pony in the field at their house which was not far away. On that Christmas morning she got a bar of Highland Toffee in her stocking with a letter telling her that the other Toffee was waiting. As you can imagine ,the other parcels had to wait.
My Father got a lot of pleasure himself as he eventually bought a bigger horse so that both girls could ride together. He also went out riding on the bigger horse himself.
He was a keen painter and many of the paintings which I now have are of the two beauties. Sadly they and he are gone but we have many happy memories.
This is a photo of his portrait of Toffee.
