to infinity and beyond

darkness

i walked 22 miles (~48km) yesterday with my brother- and father-in-law. we did it for my brother-in-law's hiking merit badge, the last one needed for his eagle scout. at the beginning of the trail, there was a two and a half mile long railroad tunnel that used to service the seattle area. we luckily remembered flashlights as it quickly became pitch black in the tunnel, with the only orientation reference being the two tiny specks of light at either end of the tunnel. if you ever get a chance to walk a long, dark tunnel - i highly recommend it. just remember a flashlight and a jacket. it gets cold.

see another shot of the hike, at a bridge crossing, here.
