Never Beaten
His Lordship as ever, rose magnificently to the challenge of demolishing a giant custard slice this morning, much to the obvious surprise of the waitress who judged it to be breakfast time and an unlikely hour to be eating a patisserie of such dimensions.
However we, who had been up and out to the gym at an hour on a dank Sunday morning when the sensible citizens of Edinburgh are still abed, considered it to be almost lunchtime.
A walk around the Christmas Market followed the challenge, but battling the ever growing throng of shoppers failed to engender the Christmas spirit and so we beat a hasty retreat home for me to bake scones for my forthcoming ladies' tea party.
Perhaps with a bit more practice they will emerge from the oven uniform and not each with a distinct personality. No need to eat your heart out yet Mary Berry.
