Reading for December

Oh dear, Freedom was very hard work. It was billed as a masterpiece of 20th century Middle America. Very very well written but too explicit in certain areas and very political.
I have just started Private Peaceful which is another Michael Morpurgo tale for children on a very adult subject. I took my granddaughters aged 10 and 12 to see the author present this on stage at the Yeovil Octagon Theatre. It was too much for them and also the very large child audience. The adults however were gripped. I shall take Kate Adie on my post Christmas break to Cornwall. Probably not my preferred choice of holiday reading but the reading group deadline for this one is early January.
