Sad Shuna
I popped in to see how Shuna and her mistress were getting on after Dornie's unexpected death a few weeks ago.
The answer was "Miserably!" Poor Shuna is grieving for her pal and seems to have lost her joie de vivre. She now cries when J goes out and follows her around the house, or totally ignores her.
J is a very experienced dog owner and breeder. She has always kept two dogs and when one of them has died, she has let the remaining dog see and sniff the dead body, which she reckons has helped them to accept the death. This time, the decision to put Dornie to sleep after her severe stroke was taken while they were at the vet's, so J left her there for the vet to dispose of - something she bitterly regrets now, because she is convinced that Shuna would have accepted Dornie's sudden disappearance if she'd had the chance to 'say goodbye'.
This rather fuzzy blip was taken while Shuna was sitting on my lap - too close but all I could get.
On a happier note friend Alison and I enjoyed a turkey-with-all-the-trimmings lunch in The Clachan, so a bowl of five-spice butternut squash soup will be all I'll need this evening while watching SCD. Bring it on!
