Smack, crack, bushwhacked

Incidents all day long at work followed by an Incident all the way home. Why is it that the flashy yellow signs say :40: yet you're travelling at approximately a quarter of that speed? Why do delays always happen when you're already in a hurry? Why do all but the lane you're in appear to be moving?
Why, why, why.
Still, gave me a good hour and a half with my talking book cds :)
