Treasures

As I was looking around the house for something to photograph - something I treasure - I quickly realized what I treasure is not something of monetary value, but something that triggers memories.

This lamp has very warm memories for me. When it was turned on and the lights were dimmed, it created the most wonderful aura. On one side there is a lighthouse; on the other, a sailing ship. The inner spinning piece rotates when the lamp warms up, giving the impression of waves in motion. I would sit and gaze at this lamp, having trouble deciding which side to watch.

In today's world of lasers flashing and all the accompanying glitz, digging out this lamp brought a sense of calm. Though not yet an antique, it is a collectable item with a value of about $150. So, even though it's not worth thousands, for me it is a treasure!
