Absent Voices Work in Progress
All eight Absent Voices artists are hard at work creating their own vision of how the sugar sheds has impacted on them personally.
Rod Miller, born and bred in Greenock, used to play in the sugar mountains inside the sugar sheds when he was a boy (as did fellow AV artist, Alec Galloway).
Rod is a photographer for the NHS by day and at night, he heads into his studio 'under the house' and paints up a storm.
According to Rod, this is Stage 17 of his first painting for Absent Voices. There will be an exhibition in the McLean Gallery in Greenock next November of work by Absent Voices artists.
You can follow the previous stages and the stages-to-come on Rod's Facebook page HERE and also on his Twitter feed @RodMiller5
The hope is that, Wee Tate-style, the work may even be displayed (albeit briefly - not perfect conditions for displaying art at the moment) in the Sugar Sheds at some point.
Back-Blipping here, but hoping to Blip a wee sensation of the new Absent Voices website as it goes live later today...
