Ballast

On my way to London, I set off from the village station. There are plans afoot to re-connect the line which ends just around the corner at present. I'm not sure whether the bags of rail ballast shown in the picture are for that purpose or for repairing the current line. There are a few new rails just visible, but nowhere near enough to make any distance, so I suspect it's for repair rather than reconstruction.
