TIMARU HISTORY

And a little bit of mine - when this was the Landing Services building standing on the waterline many years ago, my grandfather waded from the ship that had brought his family from Cornwall to make a new life in New Zealand and I guess he saw this standing as it is today, although it is now on reclaimed land and far away from the harbour as the railway is also on reclaimed land and in between.
It houses the information centre, and the Speights Ale House now, but the statue outside depicts the seafaring part of it. It is lovely to see this building being preserved as many of our N.Z. old buildings are demolished and I think that is a real shame.
