Lowsonford

We drove to Lowsonford today to meet our friends John and Jennie at the Fleur de Lys for lunch. I should say we tried to go to Lowsonford, but being the windiest day of the year and Britain being hammered by storms the journey to this out of the way small rural village was somewhat fraught. We reached about a mile from the village when we were faced with a Road Closed sign, which had blown over in the wind. So we had to find another way round, being so remote my phone sat nav couldn’t download any maps so we took off along ever narrowing country roads littered with fallen branches hoping we could find another way into the village without a tree falling on us.

We eventually managed to get to our destination and had a good lunch washed down with IPA sitting by the wood burning stove.

The journey back wasn’t quite so fraught, though I did think the road was going to disappear completely as it became narrower and narrower before we found a main road we recognised and made our way home.

The sun was getting lower in the sky as we made our way home so I took some random photos through the windscreen as Ann concentrated on the driving.
