A little light

Our downtown lampposts are decorated for the holidays. They line the street on both sides and when the sun starts to go down the little lights look pretty with all the lampposts lit. This one sits next to a covered bus stop in front of the bank. The day was very gray and so the picture is only so-so. I took this from across the street and had to time it not to get any cars going by.
From candles, gas, to electricity, lampposts have been a way that the technology of the time has been shown. I love driving through downtown and seeing this lampposts illuminated and if I could ever get a photo of them all without traffic in the picture it would make a great capture. I think it would have to be a blizzard to have no cars on the road! I live in one of the most congested traffic areas in the state. However, to see them all lined up as if toy soldiers would make for a good Blip.

Approximately 100 historic, cast-iron lampposts are known to survive in the City of New York. I know we have some beautiful ones here in New Jersey although I do think some are replicas.

Tomorrow it is supposed to be 60F outside and here we are in December. Unfortunately, with the warm weather comes rain. I don’t think we have seen the sun much this week at all. I guess that is what attracted me to the lampposts. Some light is better than nothing.
