I fought the law
These are the law courts in Bordeaux. A really unusual building; at first I was thinking how typically French as the French do seem to have some unusual architecture, but they were designed by an English architect. I *think* (but my French isn't that good) that it was a deliberate move to use an English architect because of some link between Bordeaux and England a few centuries ago.
The courtrooms are wooden pods and look more like wine or beer vats, I'm not quite sure they achieve the openness that the building sets out to represent. It just seems a bit humiliating to me, you can be seen walking into the courtroom from the street but then you disappear into a windowless pod.
The Clash.
Some information about the project and architect (Richard Rogers).
