Green Woodpecker

My husband was in his upstairs office on the phone and I was cleaning the bathroom next door, when I heard him exclaim, "Woodpecker!" "Sorry," he said to the person on the phone (who probably thought he was mad!) "There's a woodpecker in the garden!" I rushed down and got my camera and took a few snaps whilst my son was setting up his DSLR (I was on auto as usual ;-)) and this photo was the best of the lot - including his! I took it through the back window too. My son said, "I told you your lens is really good" (it's a Schneider). Bird photography is not something I usually do, so I was very pleased with this considering it was taken through a window and with zoom.

Have been decorating the tree - and cleaning up Smoothie drink from the carpet and my husband's stamp books in between! Son is having a really tired day and was trying to set up a daylight lamp that I bought him and knocked a tall full glass of Innocent smoothie all over the floor. It deposited bits of fruit over things as well as the liquid and was a right yucky mess! Fortunately, not too much got over the lamp, so not too much harm done -and the carpet doesn't smell of it, so I think I've cleared it up okay!

Another grey day, but the Christmas lights always brighten it up (I put them on all day when it's dark like this).
