"castles"

I decided to escape the city. First I took Sarah to Camperdown Park for a quick wander around, and I mean quick because once we realised part of the road was a sheet of ice, we made a quick bee-line back to the car again! haha!

Then, onwards into the beautiful Angus countryside, where, along with the Scottish borders, I have felt most at home since moving to Dundee 5 years ago. When I want to escape city life, I head for large open fields where I can breathe easier and think more clearly. And today was no different, only this time I had Sarah with me.

Arriving into Glamis village, we realised the Castle grounds were now closed for the season, meaning the village was like a ghost town. With the main castle gates closed, I remembered the side entrance and decided to see how far we could walk until we got stopped. We soon realised that the grounds were still open to walk in, so we walked the driveway up to the castle in almost silence, except for cows moo-ing and pigeons flying between trees. It was as if we had the entire estate all to ourselves! Reminded me of my beloved Glenbogle the day I walked to it for the first time with dad.

We finished our weekend with the last 40mins of the Ireland v New Zealand rugby match (what were Ireland thinking?!) before heading to Henry's Coffee House for a hot chocolate and a good olde natter before Sarah had to leave. Our chat brought a lot of raw emotions to the surface for me as I begin to face up to the reality of situations around me, the biggest of these being that horrible feeling of loneliness that continues to hide in the shadows of my life, striking when I least expect it.
