Jacobites at Loch Shiel
On holiday in Scotland, we had spent the day visiting the islands of Eigg and Muck in Mediterranean-like conditions - warm sun and blue skies (this was Scotland in September, don't forget !). On the way back to our B&B at Gairlochy, we stopped at Glenfinnan for something to eat, and then we climbed up behind the visitor centre to get a view of the famous railway viaduct used in the Harry Potter films. Turning round from that vantage point, we had this wonderful view of sunset pink-tinged clouds in a blue sky over Loch Shiel, with the monument to the failed Jacobite uprising of 1745 in the foreground. The light was simply fantastic, and made a perfect end to what had been a perfect day. The light fantastic !
