Wild Rubrum Lily

This was the shot that showed the flowers and the unopened stalk the best. There were some of the flowers more flamboyant, but there was the road in the background which I did not like! It spoils the garden feel! This Rubrum lily has been in my yard for quite sometime. It ws a gift of a lady friend and has been planted and moved several times, divided up and re-planted in it's current localtion. They do best when they can just spread riotously. They can be trimmed up in the spring, and are a pretty variety. The white is more common in our area. I have used several in gardens for show pieces, and love the red, which is really more of a flourescent fuschia pink. No scent, unfortunately. But still a joy to watch it do its thing!
