St Mary's, Kingsclere.

After an early start in Winchester, I drove back across country and paused for a few minutes in Kingsclere. There has been a place of worship on this site for a thousand years. The present building has parts from the 12th century and parts from the 19th century. A sign outside stated that the Church was open for anyone wishing to go in for a time of peace and quiet. So, in I went and was completely bowled over by the wonderful silence and the simplicity of the inside. As soon as I entered, I could have been entering another world, all the bustle of the outside was gone, the only a noise a rhythmic tick tock coming from the clock on the tower. The decoration was beautifully simple and just so right for a time of contemplation away from everything else.
