Neolithic tools

Today I did something that made me feel like I'd fallen through a hole in time.

I was transplanting some forgotten leeks and couldn't find a trowel or a dibber. Did a quick scan of the available sticks etc around me and picked up this chunk of stone thinking that it would do the job nicely.

I was happily planting away when the thought popped into my head that 4 or 5 thousand years ago someone else may well have done the same thing not far from this spot. Even the way I was holding the stone made me think of the stone tools in the museum, ones with a shallow dint in them where thumbs fit.

I guess the only real difference between me and that stone age me is the tools.

And central heating.

Mind you I have no idea if they would have grown leeks, or if leeks even existed... anyone know?
