First Day of Winter

The morning was taken up with a big football match: Matthew's team was playing one of the other teams from the same club, so there were bragging rights at stake. Matthew's team played most of the decent attacking football, fought hard for every loose ball and really held their shape well. Finished up winning 2-1, but it should have been a wider gap (in my opinion - not sure some of the parents of the other team agreed ;) ). Matthew had one of the best games I've seen him play - strong, alert, smart, organising the team from the back. His face at the final whistle was a picture.

Went to the beach in the afternoon. Beautiful winter sunshine, building sandcastles, playing games. Stayed until it was dark.
