schooner at lake (reservoir) Guarapiranga

São Paulo city is surrounded by many artificial lakes (reservoirs), which were made to guarantee the supply of drinking water for the ever growing city.
Many of these lakes (represas as called in Portuguese) are also being used for water-sports, and thanks to an increased control for environmental issues, the water quality has improved and many people make use of the lakes for leisure, such as boating, fishing, or swimming.
The two most important lakes are Represa Billings and Represa Guarapiranga, which is also called the beach o São Paulo. I am living only 5 Km from this lake. On the lake of Guarapiranga boats can be hired, and tours can be made by several types of boats, but my preferred boat (and most seaworthy or should I say, lake-worthy) is this schooner. A pity that the tour only take 30 to 40 minutes.
