First Day of Advent

AS she is on a sugar-free diet, my daughter's friend was teasing her, "Are you going to eat a peanut a day (instead of a chocolate)?" Since when are advent calendars to do with chocolate?? Never dreamed she'd want a proper advent calendar at the age of 18, but lo and behold, she did, and even more of a lo and behold, actually managed to find one in our local shops...

Advent means "the coming", and is a time when we celebrate the coming of the Christ child, and remember that we are still waiting expectantly for the full coming of God's kingdom on earth.
