Here again bracketing (this time ISO bracketing!) has been used to capture the detail.

The street lighting from Shore Road is behind me, hence the reddish colour cast on sand and breakwater in immediate foreground.

Photographic comments:

The bracketing meant that three consecutive photos were taken at intervals of one EV, the first at ISO 640, then at 1,250 and finally at 2,500. This increased the dynamic (brightness) range of the resultant composite image by a factor of four, to a range very similar to what the human eye can see. This range was then compressed back to one which computer and monitor can cope with. The final computer-generated effect is much more realistic to the human eye, way beyond what a single photo can create.

It's all part of the process of getting to know my new camera.... there's a lot to learn. The manual helps, but not a lot.
