Waiting to spot a meal
Since the recent demise of our cat, Winnie ( 19 years ) and our dog Wally ( 17 years ) who were naturally very protective of their backyard domain, their absence has seen the return of many birds to enjoy the cool shrubbery, our tallow tree, the bugs and insects in our green lawn, the odd handful of birdseed in the hanging birdfeeder and the bowls of water sprinkled among the flower pots.
Some three weeks ago a pair of laughing kookaburras visited and have become regular daily visitors much to our delight.
With their predominantly dark plumage and mostly “busy” backgrounds when a blip presents, I told our friend this morning how obliging he was to perch himself on our clothesline against a glorious blue, first day of summer sky.
There is even a hint of reflection in his eye often hidden in the sweeping dark brown stripe. The background also enhances the lovely sky blue spots on his shoulders.
Hopefully this is not repetitious but complements my previous blip
